Kent Smith is an amazing husband with such a big heart ! Monday evening after I work I came home to a delicious dinner of steak, lobster and asparagus. It was a great Valentine's Day!! I love you K. Smith <3

The evening wouldn't have been complete if we didn't get to visit with two of our friends that hold a special place in our hearts, Beau and Mac. Kent wanted to watch the WVU basketball game and the wind had other plans for our cable, it went out. So Kent called his good friend Beau to see if we could crash their romantic Valentine's evening. With chocolate fondue (that my wonderful husband made), cake and fruit in hand we headed over to the Holsingers to end the night. I hope everyone had a great day with those they love!

Another fun filled weekend for the Smith's!

Friday evening our good friends Macall and Beau invited us to have dinner with Beau's parents who were in town from Virginia. We met them at Oliverio's on the Wharf. It was a good dinner with great company!

Saturday Kent and I traveled to Washington, PA to celebrate not one, not two but three birthdays! We celebrated Tanner, Gianni and Ella's first birthday, my friend Ashley's sweet triplets. It was great seeing Ashley and the cute James trio. I think all three of them had a great birthday!

On Superbowl Sunday even though the Steelers didn't win we proudly wore our gold and black while our friends Beau and Ditty celebrated a victory for the Packers.

My close friend Mac hosted a Clothing Swap Party on Monday. It was a mixture of friends from our small group and her co-workers. Everyone brought three or more articles of clothing and two accessories. We drew numbers to see who got to shop first and then the party started! I came home with a Juicy Couture purse (thanks Lisa), a cozy gray sweater (thanks Stacey J.) and a cute summer dress (thanks again Lisa)! This was such a great idea and a very fun girls night, I can't wait for the Spring Swap Party!!

A Few Sweet Surprises

Kent surprised me with my very first piece of Blenko glass. Blenko glass is a West Virginia treasure that spans for generations. I love my heart shaped pen holder and couldn't wait to add it to my office decor!

Kent also surprised me with a magnabilities necklace! You purchase the necklace, a pendant and then different design inserts (magnets). I love it! It's a new necklace every day!

Weekend at Wisp

We had a great getaway weekend to Wisp Ski Resort with our church small group. God has blessed with us with amazing friends from small group and it was great getting to spend the entire weekend with them. We went skiing, played games and spent some much needed time together.
With only one injury (thankfully our very good friend Mac is on the road to recovery after a knee injury on a black diamond), two snowball fights and lots of laughs.. it was a great getaway! We can't wait for the next adventure!

For the last few months we have been working on finishing our basement so that Kent would have a "man cave" with a little splash of Danielle :)
Thanks to our Nana and Papaw Beymer and Grandpa and Mamaw Hollen for giving us Christmas money and Lowes giftcards we were able to get the fireplace that Kent has had his eye on. With a little added decor and a cute little puppy Kent stood in front of his new fireplace for a quick photo.

Winter Classic

A special Christmas gift for Kent -> Club Level tickets to the 2010 Winter Classic at Heinz field in Pittsburgh!
I requested tickets to the Winter Classic through my work in June in hopes of maybe getting tickets. I hadn't heard anything in months until Thursday, December 23rd. I got exactly two club level tickets to the event and even though I knew Kent would be pumped I decided to wait and include it in with his Christmas gifts. Well pumped was an understatement, he was absolutely thrilled! So yesterday we dressed in our Pens gear and headed to Pittsburgh. We had a nice dinner at Max & Erma's amongst other Pens fans and even though the Penguins lost we had a blast!! It was a great first day of 2011.

To ring in the New Year we had a late night at dinner at one of our very favorite restaurants, Dragonfly with our very close friends Macall and Beau. After delicious sushi, chocolate mousse and lots of laughs, we decided to watch the ball drop at our house. It was a great New Years Eve and we can't wait to see what 2011 will bring!

My wonderful husband planned a great Sunday for us! After church we headed to Deep Creek Lake to have our favorite pizza and salad at Uno's and then headed over to Wisp Ski Resort to celebrate their 55th Anniversary. Duff from Ace of Cakes and his entire crew from Charm City Cakes were there presenting Wisp with an incredible, delicious cake! It was a great afternoon and we can't wait to go back in January to ski!

For our one year anniversary my wonderful husband planned a weekend getaway to Stonewall Jackson resort. The resort sits on Stonewall Jackson lake, a little piece of West Virginia that is hidden and even though we forgot our camera I did get a few pictures from their website. It was a great weekend and an amazing anniversary!

Thank you to everyone for the sweet anniversary wishes and gifts (thank you Eli Monster for the chocolate covered strawberries - I was going to get a picture of them today but they were so delicious they're already gone :)

Kent and I started our Fourth of July weekend with an incredible Casting Crowns concert at our church. It was a great show and for Kent and I a memorable evening. We made the decision to sponsor a child in South Africa through World Vision. His name is Akha and he is five years old. This has been on our hearts for a few months and Friday night God just gave us the little nudge we needed.

Every Saturday I go to the local Farmer's Market and always surprise Kent with a bag full of wonderful, fresh produce. Usually Kent works on Saturdays but not this Saturday! He was so happy he finally got to go and it was a successful morning at the market. Afterwards we spent the afternoon at Ribfest with our friend Beau, between him and Kent they sampled all of the ribs!

On June 19th, Kent, my dad and my Uncle Pat faced off, in the annual Philippi chili cookoff, against my mom and my sister. Of course I thought both teams had the very best chili out of the twenty teams that had entered, but there can only be one winner... Congrats to the "Groovin' Good Chili Girls", my mom and my sister. Not only did they win best chili but they also won best dressed. Even though my husband, dad and uncle did not win they had a great time and have already started on their chili recipe for next year!

On Saturday my Aunt Vicky and I traveled to D.C. to walk in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on my Auntie Barbie's team.
The Aunts and I met my Auntie Barbie's friends Aunt Rhoda, Mandy and Amber early Saturday morning and then headed downtown to the Capitol.
There were thousands of people there..survivors, those walking for survivors, those walking for lost loved ones and even those who were fighting breast cancer. It was amazing how united you felt standing with thousands dressed in various pinks.
I walked for two very special survivors in my life, my Auntie Barbie and Nana. I love them both very much and am so thankful for them and their fight!
While we walked four miles, Uncle P.J. ran four miles and afterwards we went to IHop for breakfast.
It was a great weekend spent with family and friends and those who were walking and fighting for the same cause.

Carolina Beach

For the last few years Kent and my dad have spent Memorial weekend at the Coca Cola 600 Nascar race in Charlotte, N.C. This year we decided that after the race they would drive down to Wilmington, NC and meet my mom and I at Carolina Beach.
It was so nice spending time away from work, on the beach and with family. I love that the only question of the day was "Where should we go for dinner".
We enjoyed doughnuts at Britt's Donut Shop, the 2nd best doughnuts in the U.S., the best clam chowder in the U.S. from Michael's Seafood Restaurant named by Food Network, we were Squiggled at Squiggley's icecream parlor and we had delicious seafood at the Shuck Shack and Fish Bites. We found a few unique Christmas ornaments to add to our tree and new pineapple tumblers.
Did I also mention we played a game every night, which pretty much made every evening great for me!
We had such a wonderful, relaxing time.. we didn't want to leave!
Thanks mom and dad for such a great week, we love you and certainly needed a few relaxing, beachy days!
While we were being the best beach bums we could be, Oden was spending time at his Noni's..a.k.a.. the puppy spa :) Let's just say if he wasn't spending time with his favorite cousin Carmen and his Noni, he was at his Nana and Papaw Beymer's or his Grandpa Snider's.. needless to say I'm not sure if we'll ever get him back or if he'll ever want to come back!

On Saturday we, along with our good friends Macall and Beau, spent the day shopping at the Washington outlets and spent the evening cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates! Even though there was a rain delay the game did go on and because I got the tickets through work we were in a very nice suite that fortunately was covered.
The Pirates didn't win but we had a great time and can't wait to go to another game!

Last weekend my wonderful mother in law took me to the Amish country for my birthday! We were joined by two of her good friends, Shelby and Debbie. We had a great time!! They helped me decorate our new house from the perfect table runner and matching place mats to adding bees to our entry way! After a day full of shopping and some great finds we had a delightful dinner at the Dur Dutchman. Who would have ever guessed that homemade noodles over mashed potatoes and gravy would be delicious?? :)
It was a great Saturday spent with some wonderful ladies! A special thanks and much love to my wonderful mother in law for such a great birthday gift/trip!!

A Wonderful Husband

God has truly blessed me with an amazing husband that I love with all of my heart!
Kent has been working a lot of days and a lot of long hours the last couple of months so we haven't really spent a lot of time together and dinners before 7:00 have been few. Well tonight when I got home from work I was very surprised to see Kent waiting for me for dinner!! He was not only home early but he had prepared my very favorite, Crab Legs!! After a delicious dinner at our new dining room table, we made cannolis and enjoyed one of our favorite desserts! He is a wonderful husband with a huge heart and I fall more and more in love with him each day!

Yard Sale, Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day

Friday evening while Kent was working I headed over with Ledo's pizza to the Holsingers to get ready for the Ashton Estates/Place community yard sale. Macall and I did a lot of pricing and organizing Friday evening in preparation for Saturday.
The yard sale started bright and early Saturday morning. We talked to a lot of people, sold a lot of things and even enjoyed hotdogs that their neighbor was selling. It was a great day!! All of the money we collected went to the first annual Crohn's and Colitis walk in Morgantown July 11th.

We headed to Philippi Saturday evening to my parents for a Cinco de Mayo get together. It was a lot of fun and the food was great! I had my first s'more of the summer and it was delish!
Sunday morning Kent headed back to Morgantown for work while Pam and I had a delicious Mother's Day breakfast of pancakes with strawberries and a nice talk over our morning coffee.
For Mother's Day lunch my parents, sister and I headed to Belington to spend some time with Mamaow Jo, Max, Aunt Vicky, Andrew and Matthew. It was great spending time with them and enjoying a great lunch! Kent got off earlier than expected and surprised me by showing up at my Mamaow's house. After a mid day lunch there we headed to Philippi to spend some time with Kent's Nana and Papaw and mom. It was very nice that we both got to visit with them!

A Special Delivery

Back in Business

A new house and housewarming party, two birthdays, a Smith Mountain Lake trip, we joined a small group at our church, friends and their new babies, baby showers and family time only touches on the last two months.. so here it goes :)

In February Kent and I joined a small group at our church with our good friends Macall and Beau. We are one of five newlywed couples that get together every Thursday evening! We have learned so much about church, the Bible and most important our Savior. We love Thursday evenings and especially love the company!!

On April 1st Kent and I moved into our new townhouse, 139 Bird's Eye View Drive. We are so very thankful for our friends Macall and Beau, who while we were in between our old apartment and new house, they let us stay with them! It was great spending time with them, it was like staying with family! Thanks guys, we certainly do love ya!
On the day of the big move our wonderful friends Meredith, Ditty, Beau and Katy helped us move! We couldn't have done it without them or our families! From Beau, Ditty and Kent moving everything in, to Ditty installing all of our fans and putting all of our bedroom and living room furniture together, to Meredith and I driving a Budget truck (a 16 foot Budget truck), to my dad and Uncle Pat installing all of the blinds, to my mom and mother in law unpacking all of our clothes, to Katy organizing our kitchen.. it took all of this to make this house a home :) Thanks and love to all of you!

Last year while I was picking up my wedding dress, Kent and his mom traveled to Bedford, Virginia so that Kent could fish in a tournament at Smith Mountain Lake and this year I got to go! Kent has been working a lot of days and a lot of long hours since the beginning of the year so it was great spending the entire day with him! We spent Friday visiting the lake and the small town of Bedford, Saturday morning I dropped Kent off at the boat ramp then I took a little nap in our Tahoe. While Kent was spending some much needed time on the lake fishing, I relaxed in my beach chair, reading "Firefly Lane" under the sun. It was great!! Even though Kent didn't win the tournament he was glad just to have spent the day on the lake and not on the greens of Pikewood National Golf Course.

The weekend following our trip to Smith Mountain Lake Kent and I invited our friends and family over for a house warming get together. It was so great to see everyone and share this special time in our lives with them! Andy, Devon, Eli and Pam traveled to Morgantown the day before the party to spend some extra time with Kent and I and to help get things ready for the party. We were so happy to see them and our little nephew, he certainly had missed his Auntie and Uncle! Andy, Devon, Kent and I went to Carmona's for dinner, a new Mexican restaurant in Morgantown, while Pam stayed back and spent some TLC time with Eli.

The housewarming party was great and a special thank you to everyone for coming and the very thoughtful gifts!!

On April 24th my mom and I traveled to Charleston, WV for my very good friend Sarah Lee's baby shower! Luckily the storm we were expecting didn't happen so my mom and I had a very nice drive down and enjoyed our time together.
Sarah Lee and her husband Derek are expecting a little boy July 11th, Marek Keith Midkiff. I found monogrammed burp cloths from Etsy that I ordered for her (Devon got these for her baby shower.. and they were so cute) and a bumbo chair. Well after talking to Devon she suggested that Sarah needed a little something for herself as well, something special. So while searching on Etsy one day I found a cute necklace that I new Sarah Lee would appreciate. It is a stamped disc that says Marek with his little birthstone, she loved it! It was great seeing Sarah Lee, Derek and her mom and Kent and I can't wait to meet Mr. Marek Midkiff in July!!

On April 25th I celebrated my 25th birthday! Kent surprised me and got me the IFlip, it's pink and white and I love it!! I use it all the time and can't wait to start posting videos. (Hopefully I will take video of the house next week once we get our dining room table delivered and a few more boxes unpacked).
My parents grilled out for my birthday and it was great that family could come! :) The special treat was homemade vanilla icecream with strawberries, my very favorite!

Our good friend Amanda is leaving in a few weeks and heading to the Domincan Republic. She is going on a three month long mission trip through G.O. Ministries. She decided to have a game night at her house for the last time before she leaves and surprise to her it turned into a little going away party. We surprised her with balloons, cake and tons of goodies to take with her to the DR to give to all of the kids. She is an amazing person with a huge heart and we will certainly miss her while she is gone!!

Saturday, the day of the Kentucky Derby, Kent and I went to our friends Kevin and Emily's house to watch the derby and play games. Couples from our small group were there, plus a few of their neighbors and Emily's parents. We played the game of things and rocked it out on rockband. It was such a fun time, everyone knows that I do love playing games!!

Happy First Week of May!

A Great Family Weekend

After a long week last week it was nice to travel to Philippi for the weekend and spend time with family. Both of our families offered us directions since we hadn't been there in awhile.. funny :)

One thing that Kent and I are very thankful for, our houses are only a hillside apart.
Friday night we had a great dinner and visited with my parents and Saturday evening we had a wonderful dinner and visited with Kent's parents. On Sunday we had a delicious lunch and spent the afternoon with Kent's Nana and Papaw, we also did a little shopping at the Beymer Grocery Store (their freezer :)
It was a great weekend and sadly Kent and I both forgot our cameras to capture these moments, but next time!

We want to thank everyone for praying for our very good friend Macall. She is doing a lot better and is certainly glad to be home. Please continue to pray for her brother Brad.

Friday night Kent and I went to a Marriage Works event at our church. It was a prom theme, there was a live band, a photographer, dancing, dinner and a speaker. It taught couples, at any stage in their lives, how to start and finish together and put your faith in God, the one who can overcome all and guide you through it.

This afternoon Kent took advantage of the untouched pile of snow in our backyard, he made homemade vanilla "snowcream" and it was delicious!
It's very simple:
1 cup of sugar
2 cups of evaporated milk (or regular milk)
1 tbs. sugar
A bowl of snow :) -> make sure there is no yellow.. it is not lemon flavored!

Yesterday, a state of emergency was issued for West Virginia for the winter storm that we were expecting. The VP of my office told us to go home yesterday, two hours early when it was only raining. I did have my doubts about this winter storm, but this morning Kent and I woke up to a winter wonderland and it hasn't stopped snowing!

A much needed Kentucky visit!

Kent and I spent the weekend in Louisville visiting our family! It was great spending time with Andy, Dev, baby Eli and Carmen, we have missed them so much over the last month, if only the weekends were longer.
While Kent and Andy went to Bass Pro on Saturday, Devon, Eli and I headed to the mall and must I say Eli is a wonderful shopper! He slept the entire time and enjoyed the stroller ride! Afterwards we had a delicious dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant, Sake Blue followed with a trip to the Pie Kitchen for dessert.
After a great weekend it was very hard to leave today! The countdown is on for next month when we get to see them again! We love you guys and miss you already!

Kent and I are officially homeowners! After months of house hunting we decided to go with a Ridge Point townhouse in Westover. One of the greatest things about this house is that we got to pick everything we wanted to the countertop color, to the flooring, tile, appliances to the front door, etc. Dan Ryan Builders broke ground on November 13th and are planning to finish our house early March.

After our August 8th wedding Kent and I enjoyed our last of summer and the first few months of Fall. We celebrated the adoption of Gracie, one of Kent's friends from work and in the same evening we celebrated our friend Amanda's birthday at the ranch. It was a night full of fishing, eating, s'more making and karaoke!

In September our good friends Clifton and Tessa said "I do" at Bearpaw Lodge at Canaan Valley. It was a beautiful wedding and we wish them only the best!

Every year we spend the first weekend in October in Elkins at the Forest Festival. This year was even more special as cousin Holly was a princess! A great weekend with family, food and the first annual cornhole tournament, which Kent and his good friend Jason won!

The second weekend in October was a great celebration with a special baby shower for Devon and soon to be Mr. Eli! It was great planning and spending time with Devon's good friend Denise and baby Nathan, he was a such a sweetie through decorating and the entire shower! It was great so see Devon and to make this day so special for her and Andy! Following the shower Kent, my parents and I headed to Washington, D.C. for a surprise birthday party for my Uncle P.J. He was completely surprised and loved having us there! Happy 50th Uncle P.J.!

During the last part of October, Pam, Kent and I headed to Kentucky for Devon's Louisville baby shower! Her sweet friends Whitney and Jessica hosted a beautiful baby shower with delicious food. They not only welcomed Devon and Andy to Kentucky a few years ago, they always welcome Kent and I as well. It was a great Louisville trip!

To finish the month Josh, Meredith, Kent and I went to cheer on the Pens! This was our first hockey game and we are 100% sure this won't be our last. We had a great time and it was even better that the Pens won!

First off a very Happy Birthday to our good friend Jeanette! We hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!

I spent this past Friday and Saturday in Pittsburgh at the Beth Moore conference. It was a great spending time with ladies from my church..and must I say Beth Moore is absolutely amazing!!!

Saturday, Kent attended the wedding of our friends Mary and Adam. I made it back from Pittsburgh to Morgantown just in time to do a little dancing at the reception and to congratulate the new Saucermans. Mary was a very pretty bride and Adam couldn't stop smiling.

Yesterday, my parents, Kent and I went to the reception venue and tasted food options. Everything was delicious but we finally narrrowed it down to two entrees... which you all are sure to love!

We received our first wedding gift.. a new T.V.!! Kent's Nana and Papaw got us this very special gift and we are sooo thankful!! We love them both very much and are so thankful for everything they do for us!

We haven't blogged in so long that I am going to try to sum up the last three weeks! Last week was a very busy week of painting and moving! We painted the first half of the week and moved the second. Thursday evening was a very busy evening with Kent's mom, my mom and dad, uncle and cousin helping us move. Friday afternoon we were headed to Charleston for my very good friend Sarah's rehearsal dinner. On Saturday June 6th, 2009 Sarah Marie Higginbotham became Sarah Marie Midkiff. I was so very happy to be a part of her special day and very glad that Kent and my parents could be there as well. Sunday my mom and I visited with Kent's Aunt Kay and worked on the flowers for the wedding. It was great to spend some time with her and get her ideas! Less than two months away!!

My Birthday Weekend!

Last Saturday was my birthday and what a birthday weekend I had!! Saturday morning breakfast at Panera and a special birthday surprise from Kent... new boat shoes!! I love them!!

We then met Shirley, Chasity and Riley at Oliverio's Bridal to get Riley's flower girl dress for the wedding. She was soo cute and did such a good job!! One down and one to go! I will hopefully have photos of both flower girls, Presely and Riley, very soon.. so that everyone can see what pretty little girls they both are!

Saturday evening my very good friend Meredith joined me, Kent, my mom, dad and grandparents at an eliminiation dinner hosted by the RedFez. Even though none of us won any money we had a really good time! Afterwards we went to McDonalds for a little treat for my birthday!!

Sunday afternoon my parents had a little cookout at the house. My parents made kabobs and got my favorite icecream cake with extra crunchies! Kent's mom made my other favorite, chocolate fondue! I would highly recommend the marshmallows dipped in the fondue!

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, cards and gifts! It was a great birthday weekend that I didn't want to end!!

While at work Thursday afternoon I received a special delivery all the way from Kentucky! Andy, Devon and Carmen sent me an edible arrangement full of chocolate covered strawberries for my birthday! It was a great week for us! After a few rain drops it is so nice to finally see some sunshine!Monday evening was a very relaxing evening of catching up on some reading for our life group. We didn't have this week since Shane was out of town at a conference.

We grilled out with Bailey, Jacob, Abyy, Adam and Mary. It was Jacob's first grilling experience and the burgers were delicious!!!
We finally got to spend some time with Macall and Beau this week too! With Macall's crazy WBOY schedule it's hard for our schedules to work out.. but it was good catching up with them and we hope to start seeing them on a more regular basis :o)

A Great April Week!

Last week was a great week! Monday we took dinner to the Aurelio family and got to see baby Sammy! The whole family is doing great! Tuesday night was yet another great game night! We have added two gamers from Arkansas, Ashley and Steven, let's just say Kent was glad to be on a winning team for once! Wednesday was life group followed by a late night trip to IHop with Ashley, Steven, and Rachel..we were very sad that Shane couldn't make it!

Friday afternoon Kent and I both traveled to Virginia, however he went South and I went North. Kent fished in his first FLW tournament at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, Virginia. Kent's mom traveled with him and while he was fishing she did a little shopping at the local boutiques. My dad, mom and I travelled to Lorton, Virginia to visit with my Auntie Barbie and Uncle P.J. and to pick up my wedding dress! My dress was a perfect fit so it traveled home to West Virginia today! Saturday we helped Auntie get ready for a Pampered Chef show, which was wonderful and afterwards we celebrated my birthday with an orange and yellow polka dot cake!

After church at Calvary Road Baptist, my parents and I did a little shopping at the Hagerstown outlets! It was a great weekend and I was so excited to put my dress back on Friday for my dad, mom, Auntie and Uncle.. it was great to have the four of them there! We hope that everyone has a great week and when Kent and I charge our cameras we will start posting pictures again :o)

The Passion

Thursday was the first day of the Passion play at Chestnut Ridge Church. We went to dinner and the play with a great group of our friends! Macall, Beau, Kelly, Meredith, Kent and I ate at Cheat Lake Pizza Pasta and then we met our friends Jeanette, Jason, Gretchen, Tristan, Josh, Bailey and Jacob at the play. It was yet another incredible year that left you in awe of our Savior, our King!

Relaxing Weekend

After a busy week it was nice to travel home to Philippi to spend some time with our families! My dad made one of my favorite foods on Friday evening, lasagna! Saturday morning my mom and I went to visit the Covered Bridge Bed and Breakfast. It is going to be a great place for me and the bridesmaids to get ready before the wedding. Kent spent the day working on his boat, spending time with his mom and time at his good friends the Wolfe's house. Oden went to his spend some time with his Grandpa Rodney while my mom and I met my Mamow Hollen (Lizzie) and Grandpa Hollen (June) for lunch at an Arts and Crafts. We had a movie night last night while my dad was on his way to Martinsville, with my Uncle Greg, to watch the Nascar race. After a nice, relaxing weekend it was good to get back to Crossroads Church for a great Shane Suitor sermon. We are ending the weekend with burgers on the grill at our good friends Jason and Jeanette's house!

A Kentucky Visit

Last Friday Kent and I travelled to Louisville, Kentucky to spend the weekend with Andy and Devon! We had an amazing weekend! Andy's birthday is March 31st but we decided to celebrate a little early. On Friday afternoon Andy opened his birthday gifts from Pam, David, Kent and I. He was very surprised that he got a Wii!! Needless to say by the end of the weekend Andy had Wii shoulder and Kent had Wii elbow! They bowled, golfed, played tennis and boxed for most of the weekend! Friday evening we went to the Southeast Christian Church's annual Easter Passion program. Amazing can't even describe it! We were so glad to share this with Andy and Devon and to worship him in such a way! We will be making the drive to see it again next year!
Saturday morning Devon and I made a special trip to Target so that she could purchase "Twilight".. she is determined to get me to read these books and I promised one day I just might! Saturday afternoon Kent and Andy went to his favorite Bass Pro Shop while Devon and I shopped a little. It was nice to spend the afternoon with Devon.. how I wish she was closer to Morgantown :o) Saturday evening we went to Bravo for a delicious dinner!
Sunday morning church service was a great end to a wonderful weekend! We will be visiting again very soon! We love you both and Carms too!!

Denise's Baby Shower

I spent the afternoon of March 14th at a baby shower for Devon's good friend Denise. She and her husband Josh will be welcoming baby Nathan towards the end of April. Devon and Denise's sister Alison hosted the shower, and I must say Devon's "no calorie" diaper cake was a favorite!! Denise was glowing and so happy! It was a great day!

Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic

Twenty two members from our church flew out of Reagan National Airport this morning for a mission trip in the Dominican Republic. It should be an amazing week for them as God works in them in so many ways as they will be be building a feeding center and our pastor will be teaching a class. We wish we could have gone!

Fantasy Fishing

With the start to the B.A.S.S. Elite Series, Danielle and I have decided to put our fishing skills to the test by choosing Fantasy Fishing teams. Each team is constructed of 5 professional anglers, Danielle picked her 5 and I picked mine. ESPN has a point system for the final standings, so basically the better your 5 angler fish and finish the better your team is going to be.

My team: Edwin Evers, Todd Faircloth, Stephen Kennedy, Ish Monroe, and Fred Roumbanis

We each choose a team to compete in the Bassmaster Classic in early February, I have found myself trailing Danielle by two spots in our division. Danielle goes into this tournament in 30th place and I am in a tie for 32nd. There is a total of 9 tournaments this season, we will be battling head-to-head the entire season.

Last Saturday all six of my bridesmaids made the trip to Oliverio's Bridal in Bridgeport, WV to try on dresses. I was so very happy that they all could make it! They were all so sweet to try on so many dresses! I am so very thankful for these ladies and love them all!!

Another great week of game night and Mountaineer basketball. We were so glad to cheer on the Mounties with our friends Katy and Ditty. This was their very first WVU basketball game and it couldn't have been a better game!

Chestnut Ridge Church hosts a Spring basketball league every year. Thankfully, Kent played on a pick-up team last year and we met our very good friends Jeanette and Jason, who brought us to Crossroads Church. Our church has started a team this year and they played their first game today! Even though they didn't win, but only by a few, they had a lot of fun and great fellowship! It should be an exciting season!!

While Kent spent the weekend at home and on the slopes..I spent the weekend shopping for my wedding gown with mom, sis and Auntie Barbie in Virginia. It was an amazing weekend and I am so very lucky to have such wonderful ladies in my life! We were very sad that Devon and Pam couldn't make it, but we talked to them throughout the day with any updates and sent photos!
After many pretty dresses and a few I liked a lot.. I found the one - the dress!! Not only did I love it in the dressing room but when I walked out and they all started crying.. I knew!! I am so very happy and can't wait!! Six months from today!!

After a ROCKING message from our wonderful pastor Shane..Danielle, her mother and I had lunch at Applebee's while we waited on the Bridal Expo at the Waterfront to begin. After a nice lunch we met my mother at the Waterfront Place Hotel for a bridal bazaar. With so many decisions facing Danielle and I between now and August 8, we decided it would be beneficial to attend the event. We sampled several wedding cakes from many different bakers and got several ideas for our cake, these are a few of the ones that we liked only with color changes.

Danielle was a lucky bride-to-be that won a door prize. She won $100 gift certificate for entertainment. Since that was one of the first things we booked..we had no use for it, we luckily bumped into Adam and Mary, the eighth engaged couple from our church who recently got engaged, Danielle gave her prize to them. Congratulations Adam and Mary! We left the expo in excitement to cheer on the Mounties, we did our part, however Pitt had their own idea for the game. All and all it was a wonderful weekend for the future Smith's!!!

First Fishing Trip of the Year

Negative five degrees sounds like wonderful weather to be out on the water, hard water that is. My first fishing trip of the year took place today on Deep Creek Lake in McHenery, Maryland. We had around five inches of good ice and a thin layer of slush. Jigging minnows, wax worms, and maggots produced fish throughout the day. My day ended up with 3 perch, 10 pickerels, and 1 non-keeper walleye, and not to mention cold fingertips after packing up all the gear after the sun set behind The Wisp Ski Resort. A short trip home on I-68 west the apartment felt like the tropics. The wind really beats you up, I will not have any problems keeping my eyes shut tonight. Crossroads will be rockin in the morning, I cant wait, I think Danielle is bringing her mom back with her for the service. There is a bridal show tomorrow at The Waterfront Place Hotel, looking forward to seeing all the wedding stuff!!!!

It was a busy week for both Kent and I, we couldn't wait for the weekend! Saturday we faced the cold and went to Applebees for lunch, a little shopping and found this great party store that can order our favor bags!! To end a great Saturday we finally decided to get rock band! Kent has wanted it since it came out, just ask my cousins who he "rocks" with every holiday! After playing on New Years Day...I started to want it too! Our friends Jason and Jeanette brought over milkshakes for a jam session last night! Even though Kent isn't in this picture he was my back up singer!
This morning we had another blessed Sunday at church, we are so thankful to have found such a wonderful church, a wonderful pastor and wonderful friends! To end this wonderful weekend we intend on cheering on the Steelers!

Kent and I spent last weekend enjoy the company of his mom. We did a little Christmas exchanging at the mall, dinner and a movie.. tis' the season for this movie! Kent was a great sport! We were so happy that Pam could visit our church and meet Pastor Shane! It was a great weekend!

Wedding planning is in full gear! We have booked and visited the reception venue, booked a D.J., planned a bridal gown day, sent our save the dates, booked a cake baker, set a time, purchased the invitations and lastly, started registering for wedding gifts. Kent took control of the scanner in the kitchen aisle and of course, loved it! We have a lot more to do but are enjoying every second!!

We are so excited to start 2009! We had a delicious lunch at Kent's house with his mom, dad, Devon, Andy and his nana and papaw and finished off the day with dinner at my Aunt Janie's house. Even though we were missing a few Sandys/Sniders we had a great time with my grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins. I jammed on rock band for the first time! My cousins Zack and Andrew and Kent and I started a band and went on tour! Guess who the singer was....
It was so nice to spend the day with family!

Kent, Pam, Devon, Andy and I had dinner at Twin Oaks on New Years Eve. Their salads with pizza cheese and pizza are hard to resist! We had a game night with my parents, Uncle Pat, Devon and Andy. It was a great end to an amazing year! We are even more excited to start 2009, it should be a great year! We hope that everyone had a great 2008 and looks forward to 2009.

D.C. Trip

After a great Christmas, Kent, Devon, Andy and I traveled to D.C. to visit my Auntie Barbie and Uncle P.J. Sunshine and seventy degrees made it a great December day to tour the city! We had lunch at my favorite restaurant, the Luna Grill, visited almost all of the monuments and even squeezed in a little shopping! We are so glad Devon and Andy made the trip with us, Auntie Barbie and Uncle P.J. are so happy to have a new neice and nephew in their lives! We were sad to go, and of course they were just as sad, but we will be visiting again soon! Oh and next time I'm sure that everyone will pack their game pants!! Kent and I love you guys and are glad that four people who are so special to us are now so special to each other!
